Review:

Guest House Paradiso eh? never heard of it you say - BLASPHEMER!!! How dare you lay claim to a sense of humour and not have seen this movie... Well I suppose there is the fact that it only ran for two weeks - I'll give you that. Still, for those of us who grew up watching "The Young Ones" and more recently "Bottom" (I had a warped childhood) this is a welcome return to insanely funny violence by long standing Brittish comedy duo Adrian Edmonson and Rik Mayal (sp?). In Guest House Paradiso Rik is the manager of Englands worst hotel and Eddy (Adrian) is the porter and general dog's body. The movie starts with Rik stabbing his chest with his name tag, and, well he must have hit an artery because you usually associate that much fake blood with a decapitation in a B flick. It then moves on to Eddy riding his motorcycle back from town whilst sleeping off the night's booze. This kind of rampant stupidity is throughout the movie, hell it IS the movie. Guest House Paradiso is unrelentingly stupid and your chest muscles will pay the price, 2 hours of constant houmour is enough to send anyone into convulsions. This is one movie where I actually sat through the credits - not because I wanted to see who made it but becuase I physically couldn't get up and had to take a few deep breaths. This movie is definitely a rival for best comedy of all time. Unlike the standard American comedy (American pie) this movie doesn't rely on sexual innuendo rather on good olde fasioned Brittish projectile vomit (that scene lasts about 10 minutes). But enough of that crap - when this comes out in Video stores hire it!
